The quiet craft of cane weaving

Every cane back begins as a single length of rattan, soaked until it yields. At the loom it is drawn one strand at a time, over and under, until a flat weave tightens into something that will hold a person for decades.
It is slow work, and deliberately so. A chair back can take a full day. But the result is a surface that breathes, softens, and — kept out of direct heat — outlasts almost everything else in the room.
We do not make furniture to be replaced. We make it to be repaired, re-caned, and kept.
When a cane panel finally wears, we re-weave it — part of the same five-year care that comes with every piece. Nothing is thrown away that can be mended
